is the garmin map update free? because many people said we have to pay for map update… but when i was on the garmin website… it say free download.. but im not quite sure if its the download for the free map update for Garmin c350 because i dont have a garmin yet… still deciding if i should get one if it give free map update? can anyone help me?
If you are talking about the road data, you want City Navigator NT. There are a couple of options. You can check with Garmin to see if you are eligible for free map updates at https://my.garmin.com/maps/updates.htm
If you are not, they will point you toward the download, DVD, or SD/microSD card versions of City Navigator NT. The update costs between $70-100.
I just bought a second Nuvi 650 for my wife. Contaced Garmin and told I need to buy a map CD each year for each one. Is this true of other GPS companies; seems unfair to thr consumer?

i just got a refurbished gps system 2 weeks ago and it doesnt have updated maps. when i type in babies r us, it leads me to their corporate office, same thing with other stores. it also doesnt have the current new roads that were made this year. also when i click on traffic, it asks me to plug in the traffic receiver. what is that?!?!?
i downloaded the file (almost 2 gigs) and when i went to launch it, my computer froze.how can i restart the application?? also, can i use this update in different devices.my sister has the same model.
Ok i got a garmin nuvi 650w and ill like to have the lastest maps or at least something new, because there is some streets, locations etc. that it doenst show on my GPS, i hope i can find any solution for this, thanks a lot for any help…
I was told the garmin gps comes with maps dated 2005 and I would have to purchase the more up-to-date versions at an extra charge.
