Are Factory Built In Navigation Systems Any Better Than The Portable Ones Like Garmin And Tomtom?

I know there are others out there but trying to see if possible to work with these brands
I have always pronounced the G in Garmin as the g in goat. I heard someone today pronounce it with the j sound as in giant.
Which is correct?
I am thinking about getting one. I know Garmin is highly rated but so is Tom Tom. A lot of people prefer Tom Tom and it is about $20 less expensive than the Garmin. Just wondering the main difference. Let’s say between the Tom Tom One and the Garmin 200?
Looking to get a Garmin GPS and I dont feel like spending $500 or more on a GPS. The ones im looking at are the 200W and 260W. Anyone have or know anything about these two models?
