Taken Up Running And I Am Considering A Garmin Forerunner 305. What Do You Think?
I have one and like it.
I assume you have looked at GPS and similar systems, but basically there are 2 advanced systems you can buy that are useful as you run – ones that give you speed and distance as you go. These are the GPS systems – mostly by Garmin or Timex, or clever pedometers mostly by Nike+ but also Samsung phones.
In my mind the GPS systems are better. They are more accurate, don’t need any calibration and can be used for several sports. The downside is that they can loose the gps signal sometimes.
The Pedometer systems can only work for running but don’t loose a gps signal. The Nike+ systems requires you to use the special Nike trainers which might not be the best suited for your feet and running style.
So my preference is the GPS and preferred the Garmin version which comes as an all in one watch unit. The Timex version has a watch and separate GPS receiver that you wear on your upper arm or waist. So yes, its a good choice.
