Can I Put More Detailed Maps From Topo 4.0 Onto My Garmin Etrex Legend Gps?

The bars on it sometimes disappear and it takes FOR EVER to give me the directions, can I buy something to help with the satellite transmission? Thanks
What make you like GPS Tom Tom more than Garmin ?
Someone offer me a new GPS Tom-Tom 920T for $425, but i used to have Magellan maestro 4040 & Garmin Nuvi 300.
I dont have any experience with Tom Tom.
Please tell me, what’s the good side beside these :

im a college student and i plan to use it to go on vacation and travel by myself. during the summer i usually go to Greensboro NC to stay with my big brother, i travel from the albemarle area of north eastern NC to Greensboro. i want to be able to go visit him independently. i also like having something with a big screen so i can actually see the directions. its going to be put in my 74′ maverick when i get one.
Ibought a map, they installed it on my Garmin and when I load another map from my mapsource, the one I bought was erased. I can not recover my old map and they said I have to go for them to installed again because is a protected map against piracy. They sugested me to have each map in diferente SD memories.
I currently purchased three Garmin c330’s but didn’t realize thay they came with outdated maps. I was wondering if I purchased the map update once if I could update all three GPS’s. Thanks for your help.
to know if certain brands carry a signal better than others, i currently have an older garmin gps and it does great its not the newer flat screen ones, it loses the signal every now and then and i was going to be getting a job driving and i dont know the streets very well, is there any kind of gps that can keep track of where u are even without a signal or load in a pre loaded route of directions? any help or suggestions would be great
