I have a Garmin Forerunner which is the running equivalent of the Edge. It measures calories based on the weight that I set in my profile and the time/distance covered during a run. I don’t have the model with the heart rate monitor, but if you do, Garmin should also take your heart rate into account for calories burned.
I have a Nokia E71, which in case you’re unaware, has a internal GPS. I use T-Mobile prepaid, that means no GPRS, EDGE, or 3G… I am thinking of buying the Garmin Mobile XT for my E71, and if I have the internal GPS receiver, do I still need internet connection?

My garmin edge is a 305hr, my pocket pc is a compaq ipaq 3970.
the garmin doesn’t have bluetooth. I want to use the two devices when out travelling on my bicycle. I also have a copy of memory map on my windows pc which I intend to load onto my Ipaq.
I am a gadget gal. and am tempted to buy the Garmin Edge 705 for my bicycling. I would like feedback from those of you who are using it or have had a chance to try one.
I’ve been using bicycling.com’s online tool to plot different routes in detail and I’m wondering
a) if they can be transferred to the Edge 705?
and
b) if the huge amount of points along the route will be an issue?
I use a thick strap around much of the unit to attach it to my arm for running. Today it lost signal for two out of ten miles and I’m wondering if maybe I can locate the strap in a different way to avoid this happening in the future. Please include a reference for your answer if you can. Thanks!
