If I Have New Zealand City Mapsource Cd For My Garmin Gps, Can I Resell It?

I have used Garmin GPS in Thailand for a couple of months already and it works great even in Bangkok.
I have a plan to travel to New Zealand in a next few months. If I buy the Garmin City mapSorce, I am not sure that I can resell it on eBay or not ? Does anyone have an idea about this?
Or should I rent a car with GPS in New Zealand instead of buying the MapSource?

I can buy the cd or a sandisk memorycard for the same price. Can I buy the cd and upload it on to my pc and then download that onto a larger memory card. I can buy one up to 2gb. Both have their advantages, I just want to have both without spending double the money.

I have a Garmin i3 that is currently running City Navigator v.8. An update is available for $75 to City Navigator 2008. Is there any reason why I can’t continue to run v.8 for the life of this i3?
