My Garmin StreetPilot c330 GPS battery no longer holds a charge. I use the mount to the dashboard, and the cord has to be plugged into the car and the unit for it to power on. It costs $150 for Garmin to repair it, which is more than I can buy one for!
So, does anyone know a trick to get it to start holding a charge again, or how to replace the battery and what type to buy?

Technically no, because the power source doesn’t matter.
Will it charge when connected to the computer or another power source? If it charges everywhere else except the car, that would indicate a problem with the cigarette lighter or a problem with the car charging cable. It could be a blown fuse for the cigarette lighter or in the car charging cable, or could be an electrical problem in the car.

I have tried charging it from the car and the USB cord, and I do not have an AC adapter and would prefer to not buy one.

If im not mistaken it can take upto 9 hours for a full charge but i would say probably like 5-6 maybe 4 if you are running it dirrectly to the wall!!!!
My navigation unit is about 9 months old. This summer, it got left in the window on a hot day while I was at work. (I was in a hurry and forgot to remove when I parked my car.) Since that day, my C340 will no longer power on unless it is connected to a power source. It seems the internal battery does not/will not hold a charge. Has anyone else had a problem like this before? How was it solved (if it can be solved)? I contacted Garmin and they told me to hold the power button and press on the lower right corner of the screen, that was supposed to reset the unit. I don’t know if it reset my Garmin, but I do know that it still will not hold any type of a charge. My C340, does work still, although it seems to take longer to aquire satellites than it did before, but the directions are still right on the money. If anyone has any suggestions for me I would appreciate.

i just took mine out the box .ittells me ;no routefound .it cannot work.as usual the help sites dont help.
the USB wall charger fits, so is it okay to use it?
