I use a TomTom for in-car navigation myself, mostly satisfied. Mostly easy-to-use. Updating maps can be a bit clumsy. Have heard nightmarish stores about Mlo ones.
Kingston and SanDisk make solid, dependable flash memory cards. I would go with one of them.

Charge it using the accompanying wall charger. You can start it up while its charging; most manufaturers suggest giving it a full charge before start up; its advisable to to do so because this ensures the batter has a long life.
If you are too eager to start it up – go ahead… but do give it one full good 5 to 6 hour charge the first time.
