Are you indoors? Mine even works in the car on battery, sitting under the instrument hood, against the fuel gauge. You do have to direct it to a destination for it to look for . ??? Could you look for, for instance, points of interest? I bought an extended warrenty for my first one. It really paid off when the little forst one died!
