Which Is The Better Gps System The Tomtom One Xl Or The Garmin Nuvi 250w, I Need Reviews Or Comparisons On It?

TomTom ONE was the only one that I could find that allowed the user to plan an itinerary from any map point or address to any other map point or address. The Garmin units that I looked at could only plan from the current GPS fix. For instance, you are in a parking garage, but the unit was off when you entered the garage, so it has no idea where it is. If you want to plan an itinerary you just have to find your current location on the map or enter your current address in the itinerary planner function and then enter the destination address and the TomTom will calculate your route. It also has a pc interface that allows you to operate the device using your computer – much easier to do with a full size monitor, and a mouse and keyboard.
I often fly to different cities on business and pick up a rental car at the airport. Before I leave home I connect the TomTom to my laptop and plan my itinerary from the airport car rental (the car rental locations are pre-loaded for most major US airports) to my customer’s offices and then download the itinerary to the GPS. When I get to the car rental location I just turn on the GPS and follow the instructions!
The biggest flaw of the TomTom is customer service. Their web site is terrible. To register the device in order to get software updates you have to put in the serial number and your email address, but at the time that I bought mine they only allowed one serial number per email address. If you have more than one device (fleets, two car families) or if you have to exchange your device due to a problem you won’t be able to register more than one.
