Where Do You Put A Garmin Gps On The Windshield? Lower Left, In The Middle?
The GPS will function as long as it has power and can see the sky (3 GPS satellites).
I like to put mine on the lower left side of the windsheild where I can see it, but it won’t block my view of traffic. I purchased a GPS mounting pad for my wife so she can but her GPS receiver on the dashboard. It works well and leaves no telltale rings on the windshield.
Portable GPS receivers are sought by many thieves. If they see a ring on the windsheild, they know there’s a good chance they will find A GPS receiver in the glove box.
The state of California has a law that you cannot put windshield suction mounts on your windshield. Don’t ask me why, but they just do. The answer above is 100% accurate, but I may offer an alternative:
The remedy I found best and most reliable is an adhesive disk that adheres to your dashboard and allows you to mount your suction cup to that disk, and it will sit on your dashboard. This feature is good because it doesn’t create near as bad a blind spot, doesn’t slide around like a “sandbag” mount, and is legal in, I do believe, all 50-states.
You need to check State laws. Some states like mine do not allow you to mount them to the windshield. I have a holder that rests on the top of the dash and I place the unit in the left corner and route the power wire so it won’t tangle anything.
