Most of Garmin's more popular products (for Automotive applications the C330 or C340, or any of the Nuvi) come with preloaded maps. This means they have everything ready to go right out of the box, no need to connect to a computer of any type. The only reason to connect these products to a computer would be to update the map data.
According to a Garmin press release (http://www.garmin.com/pressroom/corporate/011006.html ) Mac compatible MapSource software should be out by the end of 2006. Yet looking at their software, I found no mention of Mac.
But again, for most of their products there's no reason to connect to a computer.
