This means they have everything ready to go right out of the box, no need to connect to a computer of any type. The only reason to connect these products to a computer would be to update the map data. According to a Garmin press release (http://www.garmin.com/pressroom/corporate/011006.html ) Mac compatible MapSource software should be out by the end of 2006. Yet looking at their software, I found no mention of Mac. But again, for most of their products there's no reason to connect to a computer.
