I Noticed That My Gps (garmin), Is Not 100% Accurate As To When I Get To The Input Address, Is That Common?
Yes.
Addresses are often times calculated by block on these types of systems- especially in GPS systems, which have street addresses overlaying the actual coordinates.
Here’s a good way to see this in action- go to Google Maps and look up your address, or an address that you are familiar with. You will notice that the point that shows up is pretty close to where you know it to be, but it is often times off (for instance, my house is in my neighbor’s yard).
GPS is accurate up to 50 feet on average. Note that the GPS grid is a perfect sphere, whereas the Earth is not a perfect sphere – it’s more of an irregular blob that’s close to a sphere shape. The GPS (or any map) will never be perfectly accurate.
autonomous gps devices will always be innacurate for varous reasons. only a surveyors system calibrated to a previously know position is accurate to within 1mm. a handheld device will vary in every direction throughout the day by about 30ft. the number of satellites in the sky, the ability to pick up russian satellites, the angle of the satellites in relation to you, stormy conditions, etc all have a role in accuracy.
Do you mean that it estimates the arrival time incorrectly? If yes, that is common since there are so many variables – mainly traffic conditions and how fast you drive. But as you go, it will refine the estimate to come closer to the actual final time. It doesn’t seem worse to me than Yahoo maps or Google maps.
