I Have Just Purchased A Garmin Etrex Legend, Which Came With A Rs232 Cable. My Pc Has No Comms Port?
I have purchased a convertor cable so i can connect though USB port. But I keep getting error ‘Device not Found’.
I’m at a loss can anyone help???

Garmin indicates that not all USB to RS-232 cables will work.

Their cable is at https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=… but their cables all seem to be way over priced.
I would consider going out on ebay and look for non-Garmin cables that are known to work with the etrex units. Power cables for use in a car are also much cheaper there.
I just uploaded tracks from my etrex vista HCx (but the prodess would work with any GPS as long as you have software like Mapsource that can create a GPX file) to Google Map http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q&hl=en…
