How Do I Connect My Garmin 10 Bluetooth Gps To My X51v?
According to Garmin’s web site, the Garmin GPS 10 will send Bluetooth NMEA data in a serial fashion to any device that will receive it. It comes with software for “PC laptop, Pocket PC, and Palm OS based products.”
According to a review I read of the Dell Axim X51v, it runs Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System (which I believe is Pocket PC) and has Bluetooth capabilities.
I don’t own either device, although I am familiar with BT, GPS receivers and such – I would hazard a guess that everything should work, but I wouldn’t back the guarantee. Don’t see why it wouldn’t I guess is what I’m trying to say.
If you’re buying one of the devices from someone who won’t (easily) take a return, buy one, then go to a store and try testing the other piece with it before purchasing it.
I would think you turn on the GPS receiver, turn on the PDA, install the software – then with the GPSr turned on, go into your system prefs and enable BT reception. I know for my PDA you have to “discover” devices to use them properly.
Good Luck!
