Do All Running (like Garmin 50 Etc.) Require Chest Straps To Get Your Bpm , And Do Those Straps Get In The Way?

Mostly you have to use a chest strap. There are gadgets out there that monitor heart rate from the finger or the wrist but they don’t always pick up every heart beat and the chest straps tend to be more accurate.
I don’t have one but people I have talked to wear chest straps with no problems. I would go for a chest strap HR monitor.
As for watches, look for these brands: Garmin, Timex, Suunto or Polar. All of these make good heart rate monitors and its just looking at what other functions you want and the price you want to pay. You get more functions the more you pay and for £50 you get a watch, stop watch and HR monitor, for £300 you can get that with GPS, wireless downloads to computer and all singing and dancing watch.
Some things out there allow you to put your finger on a sensor when you want your heart rate, though I believe you usually need to stop moving, too, and the accuracy isn’t the greatest. If you want anything accurate, yes, you’re dealing with the chest strap.
No they don’t get in a way, and you get used to them pretty quickly.
Garmin is using a new heart strap design in their newest models that’s supposedly smaller and more comfortable, and it should be available separate for purchase with older models for those who want it too. The one they’re already using isn’t exactly horrible though.
