Bennett Marine Video (BMV) does make instructional videos for Garmin receivers that you can order from most outdoor retailers. The DVDs usually cover several receivers at the same time (for example, the one for the eTrex Vista covers all vistas: b/w, color, cx, hcx,etc.).
Also, I live by an REI that does some great GPS classes too. I’d highly recommend them if you’re more of a ‘learn by doing’ person. If you don’t have one nearby, check with your local outdoor retailers, they may have something similar.
