Is Built In Navigation Systems That Much Better Than The Cheaper Portable Ones Like Garmin?
I would expect it to be considering nav systems are around 2k options on a car. but how are they better and what is the difference between the two?

The NAV system built into the car at the factory generally has more features then an aftermarket unit. Most factory units also control the stereo and sometimes even control vthings like the air conditioner.
Personally I think NAV is the single biggest waste of money you could spend on a new car.
I chose not to get one in the car I just bought because I don’t think they’re better, just marked up a lot. Also, on my sisters, you have to hit a disclaimer every single time you use it and stop the car to work it, even if there is a passenger. I prefer a handheld unit which is much cheaper and we can use it in both of our cars. I also didn’t think I’d use it enough to warrant the cost. I can stick the portable in the glove compartment and use it when needed.
Nice thing about getting one from the manufacturer of the vehicle is its covered under the vehicles warranty and it keeps a clean clutter free look.
