Why Would The Gps Garmin Navigation System Say My Average Speed Is 92mph When It Should Be Lower?
Any ideas? If it helps, we have been traveling through mountains and across ferries. The only things I could think of would slow the average speed and not increase it. Could it be that we adjusted the clock back 3 hours?

There is a glitch in the program. I sometimes have the same problem. For some reason it records a much higher distance traveled than was actually traveled. Since the time is correct, it will give a higher average. I’ve had averages as high as 400 miles per hour with a max. speed of 72 miles per hour.
It’s not about time. It’s about wrong distance information. The time is correct. Don’t know what causes the glitch. It’s a garmin…right.
Ask about the programming glitch. Include details when contacting the manufacturer. They might have an updated program that fixes the problem.
That would be the most likely reason, since speed is calculated by distance traveled in a certain amount of time. Try changing the clock again and see what happens.
