Does The Tomtom Or The Garmin Gps Units Tell A Person Which Side Of The Road Your Destination Is Located On?
I thought i read somewhere that TomTom GPS units do NOT tell you what side of the road your destination is located on when you get there.I was told the Garmin models DO.Is this accurate?

The tomtom does distinguish between left side of the road or right I don’t know if the garmin does , i have a tomtom 720 and it clearly states if your on the right or left, The TomTom uses a better mapping system (teleatlas) and of lately has out done (navteq) the maps that garmin uses, have a look at this web site http://www.gpsreview.net/navteq-vs-tele-…
I have the Garmin and yes it does tell you what side of the street your destination is.
I have a TomTom and it doesn’t do that.
I wish it did though. It’s annoying sometimes!!!
I have a Garmin it says “destination ahead, on the right (or left)” and then says “destination” when I’m in front of the location. I know nothing about the TomTom.
The Garmin units do, but I’ve found that it is incorrect at times as it bases the location on the layout of the street, and the address. For example, coming into my home, it always says the destination is on the left regardless if the entrance to the complex that I come into.
On my TomTom One 3rd Edition, when I put in a destination like a house address, it does tell me (and shows me) which way to turn (to be in the driveway).
The Garmin does. The TomTom does not (unless you are on a divided road, then sometimes it does).
Look up directions to an address on Yahoo Maps. Garmin gives you the same level of detail when you are driving and when you arrive at the destination.
This is one reason I prefer the Garmin. With the TomTom, you get directions for the first 10 or 100 miles, then are on your own for the last 100 feet. Not always simple when you get somewhere after dark in bad weather, or are in a crowded area with houses without numbers on them.
