Does The Garmin 60 Csx Recieve Better Than The New Smaller Units?
I want a really great reciving handheld unit.. the new hc vistas and summits claim to have new better recieving antennas, but are they as good as the 60 csx

The GPSmap 60Cx/CSx uses a chipset made by SiRF. Those receivers use a quad-helix antenna. The quad-helix used to be superior with the older receivers, but with the current generation of SiRF, the antenna type doesn’t really matter anymore.
The eTrex Vista HCx, Legend HCx, and Summit HCx use a chipset made by MediaTek. This chipset seems to be as good, if not slightly better (more sensitive) than the SiRF-equipped 60Cx/CSx and 76Cx/CSx. The eTrex series use a patch antenna. Some people will try to tell you the patch antenna is inferior, but that is bunk when a good receiver and chipset are used.
I don’t think you will go wrong with the new H-series eTrex models or the GPSmap Cx/CSx models. The thing for you to decide is which is sized best for you, and which has the best button placement.
