What Is The Difference Between A Garmin 350 And A Garmin 255?
I got a Garmin for christmas from my wife. Coincidentally I got a Garmin for her too. We do not need 2 of them, and we are debating on which one to keep. Which one is better? The 255 or the 350?
Great minds think alike, but you didn’t say who got which model
Keep the 255. It’s a newer model, and it comes with a bunch of improvements. I think that the 2 biggest improvements are:
The first is what they call “HotFix” which gives you faster satellite acquisition, 5 sec instead of 30 sec or longer, so you don’t have to wait long before you start driving.
The second is a “next-turn arrow” which is a little box at the top left of the screen that shows the direction of the next turn, and your distance from it. You still get instructions for when to turn, but at any time, you can glance quickly at the GPS and know for example, that in 1.7 miles, you have to make a soft left, and that can help you get in the correct lane. It’s a simple thing, but immensely helpful.
The 255 wins, easily.
The truth is, just about everything Garmin makes is pretty good. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either one. I have a 760, and I’ve used it all over the country.
