Have You Had Any Problems With Tomtom Or Garmin?
I’m trying to decide which to buy. The tomtom seems like the best but I’ve heard, if there’s a problem, they’re useless at sorting it out for you. This is making me lean towards garmin but I’ve heard their features aren’t as good.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Tom Tom myself but as previously sates by Ray you hear of good and bad on both, it really is just individual choice. I like the Tom Tom web site, you just connect device by usb and get it updated etc, very easy, whether its the best or not I dont think anyone can really say. They all cost about the same.
We have a TomTom One and it’s crashed several times – TT helpdesk were next to useless so we just had to wipe the thing and re-load all data back on (well, I say ‘we’, more like the other half!).
It also loses its signal and gets very confused when driving round in London – all the really high buildings don’t help.
Oh, and it now won’t turn on with the little button, it will only switch on when it’s plugged into the in-car charger thing.
Hmm – doesn’t sound good does it?! I think we got the one that was drop-kicked across the store room!
I’ve had a TomTom for about 18 months. There have been a couple of minor problems, and TomTom have always been able to supply the fix promptly. There is also a large support network at newsgroups alt.satellite.gps.tomtom, alt.satellite.gps, and uk.rec.gps
I am learning to drive and we got a tomtom and I wouldn’t be without it!!! If I go the wrong way (often) it sorts me another route pronto and I can have a choice of people to tell me where to go. It even beeps or moos (you choose) at the speed cameras!!! Love it love it love it
