Does Tmc On A Gps (garmin Nuvi) Cost Money?
I am looking at most likely a Garmin Nuvi 250 or 350. Most likely will get the 250… but wondered about the TMC compatibility on the 350 model.
It says it supports TMC when I look on the bestbuy.ca website so I can only assume that one has to sign up/subscribe and pay for such a service.
Can anyone tell me if indeed you need to pay for this service and what typical rates are? I am in the Greater Toronto Area in Canada.
Also let me know what you think of this service if you currently have it.

You must subscribe to the service. In the states it’s about $60 a year.
What I have heard is…you buy the GPS or it comes in your car. You then have the option of buying updates every year…or however often they provide an update. It’s like with a map book. They print a new one ever year but it’s up to you if you want to buy the update. Some may be automatic and charge a yearly or monthly fee but I haven’t heard of one yet. I haven’t checked to much into the portable systems yet so I don’t know what TMC is but I hope I’ve helped at least a little.
